What You Need To Get Started
I only build on the WordPress platform, which currently hosts 43% (and growing) of all sites across the web.
For any website you're going to need:
- A domain name
- A hosting account
- Photos
- Content
More about each of these below.
If you already own a domain name, I will need to know where you purchased it (for example,GoDaddy). I will also need your account number, password and 4-digit PIN, so that I will be able to link the domain name to your hosting account where your website files will be located.
If you DO NOT own a domain name, you can get a free one included with your purchase of a GoDaddy Managed WordPress Hosting account (see below).
I recommend either GoDaddy or WP Engine for WordPress hosting, and either one is adequate for most websites unless you expect to have more than 25,000 visitors monthly.
If you already have photos & images that you want on your website, you can attached them to an email and send to me.
If you want professional stock photos, below are three great resources with millions of high-quality photos and images. Just use the search bar to search by topic or category.
Regarding your logo, if you have one already, great. But if you don't, please don't obsess over finding the "perfect" logo. Trust me, your customers or clients don't care about the logo. I doubt whether anyone has ever made a decision to buy or not buy based on a company's logo. You can always get started with a simple text or image logo, and swap it out later when someone designs a professional logo for you.
